Head Back to School with Ocean Wise

Happy back-to-school season! In celebration, we’re highlighting all of the programs we offer for learners of all backgrounds and sizes, from schools and youth-serving agencies, and community groups to individuals and families. Dive in to learn about our virtual field trips, hands-on artifacts that can be delivered to your classroom, the immersive Ocean Wise Sea Dome and more. Each of the areas are targeted to a range of ages and developmental stages, covering young ocean enthusiasts from toddlers to late teens. 

Virtual Programs

Did you know we offer virtual education programs? Explore the ocean without leaving the classroom (or home) in one of our virtual programs, informed by the latest climate and ocean science. These live workshops range in topic and length, and our experts can tailor programming for elementary, secondary or adult audiences. Available on Zoom, Teams, Google Hangouts, or your preferred video platform!

Education Kits

Calling all educators looking to spice things up for the new school year! Check out our curriculum-based ocean education kits that are easy to use at school or at home. Kits cover topics like ocean plastics and species at risk, and are available in French and English for elementary school (grades 3 to 6), middle school (grades 7 to 8), and high school (grades 9 to 12).

Professional Development Workshops

This one’s for the teachers! This back-to-school season, dive into ocean programming with a professional development workshop. Book for your school or community group and learn how to teach climate change effectively to young people. Discovery Kits

Did you know that we offer Discovery Kits to borrow? These are hands-on resources that teachers and educators can bring into their classrooms. Each kit includes climate information and discussion questions as well as a variety of artifacts like replica skulls, books, and interactive games that captivate students’ imagination and interest in the ocean. Plus, add on a free ‘Ask an Expert’ Q+A session when booking to give students the opportunity to chat with one of our Ocean Wise Education team members virtually! Borrowing a kit is FREE and includes shipping anywhere within Canada.

Ocean Literacy Courses

Our FREE online courses are available to anyone who wants to learn more about the ocean. In these self-paced courses, students learn about many fascinating aspects of our ocean while being equipped with the ability to help conserve one of the most beautiful, complex, and important parts of our earth.
