Lights, Camera, Conservation: An Ocean Bridge project 

 
Caitlin Borthwick is a videographer and Ocean Bridge ambassador from the 2022 St-Lawrence cohort. She created two captivating videos as part of her Ocean Bridge project. Caitlin’s aim is to create videos about the environment and preservation and is deeply passionate about the ways that art can tell stories. If you are thinking of applying to be an Ocean Bridge Ambassador, I’d say just go for it.  As an Ocean Bridge alum, I can confirm that the opportunities are endless. Ocean Wise’s Ocean Bridge program is an incredible chance for youth aged 19-30 to truly make an impact on ocean conservation.  

At first glance, you might think it’s more suited for those in the sciences, but the reality is that it’s also an amazing experience for those with creative interests and skills. 

During my time here I got to dive headfirst into my passion for filmmaking and my love for the environment. Having the opportunity to capture and edit two captivating videos as part of my Ocean Bridge project was an amazing experience. Ocean Bridge is the perfect platform to bring these two loves together, and I couldn’t be more excited to share! 

If there is something that you’ve always wanted to do – whether it be an environment-friendly cooking show or podcast on whales – Ocean Bridge gives you the tools to turn your dreams into reality.  

I am very thankful to the Ocean Wise team and my coach Samantha Dimitraki for this transformative experience.
