Empower Your Customers to Choose Seafood that Supports a Healthy Ocean

Overfishing is one of the biggest threats to our ocean.

Choosing sustainable seafood is one of the simplest ways to fight overfishing, protect ocean health, and support positive change on the water.

Ocean Wise works with businesses across the seafood supply chain to identify products that meet our science-based sustainability criteria. When at least one product qualifies as Ocean Wise Recommended, your business becomes eligible to join the Ocean Wise Seafood Partner program.

With a low financial barrier to entry, becoming a partner is an accessible way to demonstrate your commitment to sustainability

An Ocean Wise Success Story

Over the years, Ocean Wise has made incredible progress in advancing sustainable seafood by recognizing responsible fisheries, supporting small-scale fishers, and helping consumers make informed choices. One of our standout success stories is the transformation of B.C. spot prawns.

In the search for a sustainable alternative to farmed Asian tiger prawns, Ocean Wise helped turn spot prawns from a largely exported product into a celebrated local treasure. By working closely with chefs, fishers, and businesses, harvest rates have decreased by 32 percent thanks to improved sustainability and management measures, while the value of the fishery has increased by 72 percent. A meaningful win for both sustainability and local economies.
