Video Project showcasing 4 different options how to experience the world of orcas in British Columbia and learn more about the incredible environment they live in.

Project Description

What an incredible summer it has been, filled with unforgettable memories and a deeper connection to our beautiful British Columbia!

I had the privilege of working on a fantastic project with Ocean Bridge, a Wise youth program, focusing on sustainable orca experiences in BC captured in a captivating video project. It was an eye-opening journey into the world of these majestic marine creatures and the importance of preserving their habitat.

From breathtaking encounters with orcas in the wild to exploring the stunning coastal landscapes of BC, this summer was an adventure of a lifetime! Learning about the fragile balance of our oceans and how we can contribute to their conservation was both enlightening and empowering.

Combining these experiences in a video project showcasing options for both tourists and locals on how they can integrate both outdoor and educational experiences into their daily schedules or trips.

I can’t express how grateful I am for this incredible opportunity and the great connections forged along the way.

Stay tuned and follow @oceanwiseyouth and @coastalpicturebc for the release date of our video project on YouTube. Let’s spread the message of ocean conservation and sustainable eco-tourism together!

What was your biggest challenge?

I always had a passion and fascination for orcas but since I graduated and work a full time job I found it difficult to set the time aside to explore my passion for orcas. This summer was super busy and I pretty much spend all of my free time working on this project. I made some great connections along the way. In the beginning I was hesitant to ask organizations and businesses for support on my project but I was positively surprised by the feedback and support I received.

What was your most valuable takeaway?

It doesn’t matter what job you work, how old you are or the budget you have. If you want to learn about orcas there are so many amazing resources and options how you can integrate both educational and in person outdoor adventures into your daily schedule. While working on this project this summer kept on learning and discovering so many new things but also challenges around the topic of orcas & ocean conservation that I was not aware of. I will take this project as a starting point and hope to continue my learning journey in the following years.
