Stephanie Rosen

Project Lead

This project entailed running 5 ocean education workshops for both elementary and high school age youth. Topics covered included invasive species, plastic pollution and climate change.

Project Description

This workshop series introduced many youth to marine invasive species, plastic pollution and climate change in relation to ocean health.

What was your biggest challenge?

Biggest challenge was the variety of formats that we had to facilitate workshops for. The classes we interacted with ranged from completely online, to completely in person, to hybrid and we had to adapt to each circumstance.

What was your most valuable takeaway?

Learned how to facilitate engaging workshops and work with youth. I was also challenged to think critically to think about ocean literacy as the students asked many difficult and reflective questions during workshops. I also increased my understanding of ocean sustainability in a Canadian context.
