Project Lead

This project seeks to understand the relation between mental health and the climate crisis.

Project Description

Creation of digital stories which are individual narratives that can be used as powerful tools to promote a social justice narrative.

This project has been created in commemoration of the lives of all the victims of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, including two Ocean Bridge ambassadors, Danielle Moore and Micah Messent. We aspire to carry on their legacy and commitment to making the world a better place by creating long-lasting impacts with a firm commitment to driving positive change for the environment and our ocean. We will never forget the light that Danielle and Micah brought to the world and will continue to keep them in our hearts. To learn more about these two amazing people, please visit: Honouring Danielle and Micah  – Ocean Wise. This work is partially funded by the Commemoration Fund for Victims of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 Tragedy.

What was your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge was participant recruitment which took a bit more time than expected. I took approximately 1.5 months to recruit.

What was your most valuable takeaway?

Thanks to the funds received through the Ocean Action Grant, we were able to start the project without delays on February 12th, 2024. I believe this to be a project implementation success story because all necessary materials were purchased before the start date (e.g., an external hard drive (data encryption), voice recorder and WeVideo platform subscription). Therefore, we are reassured that the project will not have delays as a result of lacking or pending resources which are vital parts to the completion of this research.
