Early Career Ocean Professional (ECOP) Canada

The Early Career Ocean Professional (ECOP) Network Programme empowers ECOPs, who self-identify as being early in their career in any field related to the ocean. The Programme is at the heart of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, and was endorsed by the UN Ocean Decade as a network program in 2021.

ECOP Canada seeks youth participants with a deep connection to the ocean and a passion for meaningful early-career engagement. With guidance from the National Coordinator, the Steering Committee, and ECOP Canada’s numerous ocean partners, participants assist with:

• finding funding, jobs, events, collaborations, and leadership opportunities to share with ECOP Canada members
• creating content for social media, newsletters, website, and Slack community
• program development and implementation to uplift and support the voices of ECOPs
• general outreach and administrative support including database updates, grant research, and impact report design.
