Using acoustic telemetry, Brett Studden monitored freshwater fish behaviour in response to storms
Project Description
Brett Studden used acoustic telemetry to study the behaviour of freshwater fish in response to storms. This study was conducted to gain more insight into fish movements to prevent overfishing and understand further the impacts of climate change and the accompanying extreme weather events on ecosystems. The monitoring for this project was carried out in Algonquin Provincial Park with the support of the McMeans lab at the University of Toronto. Research finding were then presented to the American Fisheries Society at a conference in January of 2024 as well as through informative bookmarks made for and distributed to the public.
