Curious about what to expect?
Camps run Monday - Friday throughout the summer months. Please note that camps are not running over the long weekends.
Camp kicks off the week of July 6th and ends the week of August 24th
Camp Overview
Hike with guides at Sea to Sky Gondola to study mountain ecology, glacial history, and climate impacts. Use quadrats, tally sheets, and apps to record species diversity in alpine or forest zones. A guide will share Indigenous stories and teachings on land stewardship.
Visit a local food forest to learn with an Indigenous knowledge keeper about regenerative agriculture and permaculture rooted in traditional ecological knowledge. Discuss how food security and community action relate to environmental health and justice.
Participate in service learning via a shoreline cleanup, collecting data on litter and inputting it into citizen-science database. Behind-the-scenes tour of select PSEC labs. Learn from scientists about their microplastic, kelp, and eDNA studies.
Boat-based exploration of marine habitats (kelp forests, seal colonies, coastal geology) with species identification and data collection. Use kits to sample and test water quality. Observe and document life forms in tide-pool ecosystem.
Create ecosystem maps tracing mountains to ocean, highlighting environmental challenges and solutions. Prepare group presentations for the final public showcase.
At the end of the summer, all participants come together to make short presentations on what they’ve learned to peers, parents and community members.
