BC's Marine Life Colouring Book
Project Details
This project aims to educate young children and instill a strong curiosity for BC's marine systems at a young age which will lead to a life long passion. Through depicted species which were personally found through work with the Youth to Sea program, the book aims to give young children an accurate snapshot of what they can find through exploring their local beaches.
Project Description
My project is a 40 page coloring book which depicts various BC native marine species for children to illustrate, furthermore each page has a guide which informs the children on a fact regarding the species. The project serves as a means for young children to begin to develop a passion for our oceans and go out and explore in order to find such animals themselves as I did while I searched the tidepools and coasts of Vancouver.
This project has been created in commemoration of the lives of all the victims of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, including two Ocean Bridge ambassadors, Danielle Moore and Micah Messent. We aspire to carry on their legacy and commitment to making the world a better place by creating long-lasting impacts with a firm commitment to driving positive change for the environment and our ocean. What was your biggest challenge?
At times it was difficult to articulate exactly how my project which was less research and ‘awareness’ based would create impact.
What was your most valuable takeaway?
Education is often to key to many issues.
