Want to do drag but don't know where to start? Create the most gorgeous looks w/o adding to plastic pollution? Can you do it all on a tiny budget (or none)?

Event Description

This Pride Week, in collaboration with Ocean Wise, Nova Gyna and Treyla Parktrash will be your guides into the world of sustainable drag! We'll walk you through creating your drag persona, designing your outfit, styling hair/wigs, make-up, and how to put on a fantastic show, all while reducing your waste and impact on the environment (and your wallet!) with creative choices and materials. Our workshop aims to inspire you to re-imagine, re-use and re-purpose what you already have at home and what you can find from your surroundings. Breathe new life into old clothes, unwanted items and waste, and let them help you shine on the stage!

Spaces are limited. Open to ages 13+.

After the workshop, you will get an opportunity to perform at the Holy Whale on August 27th with both queens. Just mark your interest when you sign up by reserving a ticket to perform!

While we will be providing some materials and equipment, we also encourage you to bring materials (and ideas!) that you have at home to the workshop. Whether it's fashioning a dress out of paper bags, tailoring a suit of post-it's, or sprucing up worn-out clothing, we'll find a way to make something beautiful together.

Examples of what to bring:
-Scissors
-Hot glue
-Staplers
-Paper waste (bags, magazines, loose papers, old notebooks, etc.)
-Plastic waste (bags, soft take-out containers, packaging, etc)
-Old/worn out clothes or fabric scraps
-Natural materials (leaves, dried flowers, twigs, etc)

Photographs may be taken during this event. By attending this event you grant permission to the use of photographs and/or video that may be taken of you on in publications, news releases, online, and in other communications related media.

This is an Ocean Bridge ambassador led event as part of Ocean Wise's Ocean Bridge program.
