Celebrate Earth Day at Vanier park

Ocean Wise will be attending Earth Day at Vanier Park, with a marine artifact table and a special reading!

Celebrate Earth Day at Vanier Park—and the traditional village site of  Sen̓áḵw—with three of your favourite spaces!

The Museum of Vancouver, the Vancouver Maritime Museum and the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre join forces as representations of land, sea and sky to honour the Earth on April 20 with kid-friendly activities!  

Activities and programs will be featured at each site throughout the day.

Admission to the MOV and the VMM are by donation. Regular admission is in effect at the Space Centre for scheduled shows, however special activities will be free.



Scheduled Activities: (admission by donation)

  • 10:00am – 3:00pm: Looped screening of Fiona Tinwei Lam’s Environmental Video Poems
  • 10:30am: Reading with Poet Laureate Fiona Tinwei Lam
  • 11:00am: Temíxw: Stories from the Land with Chief Ian Campbell in the MOV galleries


Scheduled Activity: (admission by donation)

  • 10:00am – 3:00pm: Crafting with Urban Source with the VMM in the TK Gallery using reuse materials
  • Noon: Storytime with Ocean Wise of The Mess That We Made by Michelle Lord at the VMM


Scheduled Activity:

  • 10:00am – 3:00pm: Make your own Solar System Hat in the lobby
  • 1:00pm: Presentation of Space Technology: Observing Planet Earth in the Auditorium
