Project Lead

Outdoor classroom space at Hope Blooms for youth to gather to participate in Green Labs, Tiny Labs, Garden Nights and other sustainability-related educational programming. With additional gathering spaces established in our community, especially outdoor spaces, more learning can occur in connection to the natural world.

Project Description

We have Began process to create outdoor classroom gathering space .So far we used funding to set up outdoor wooden seating in a cleared area in the garden. we will move forward with other aspects of the project once additional funding is secured.

This project has been created in commemoration of the lives of all the victims of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, including two Ocean Bridge ambassadors, Danielle Moore and Micah Messent. We aspire to carry on their legacy and commitment to making the world a better place by creating long-lasting impacts with a firm commitment to driving positive change for the environment and our ocean. We will never forget the light that Danielle and Micah brought to the world and will continue to keep them in our hearts. To learn more about these two amazing people, please visit: Honouring Danielle and Micah  – Ocean Wise. This work is partially funded by the Commemoration Fund for Victims of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 Tragedy.

What was your most valuable takeaway?

Learning we can bring the youth outside and have a space to sit and learn together in programming! Actually being outdoors is so important in connecting to nature and learning about it, and so far it is a challenge for us to conduct activities outside as we have limited seating and the kids have trouble focussing without a space to sit down and connect to a short lesson/instruction. Hopefully this can allow for more integrated, creative activities to enhance learning!
