Healing with Nature Group, is a nature-based mental health group for Muslim women. It encourages Muslim women to utilize outdoor spaces for their personal and communal wellness. In addition, it hopes to inspire a sense of eco-responsibility for local land and waterways around us.

Project Description

My project is was a mental health support group rooted in principles of eco-therapy. This group created a safe space for 10 Muslim women to explore healing both outdoors and virtually, through a hybrid program delivery.

What was your biggest challenge?

It was tough to manage my time. In the future, I would accept more volunteers to help run these events.

What was your most valuable takeaway?

Through this experience, I gained skills in leadership, group facilitation outdoors, communication. I learned that with a little bit of planning, we can facilitate such great programming that can have large impacts locally.
