Our Work

Kelp Nursery

The Ocean Wise Kelp Nursery at the Pacific Science Enterprise Centre in West Vancouver is our hub for developing new kelp cultivation techniques.

Every additional tank we are able to add means more kelp growing in the nursery and, ultimately, more kelp outplanted into the ocean for marine life to thrive in.

Research and Monitoring

Restoring kelp forests is much more than putting kelp in the water. It takes research, planning, and long-term monitoring.

Your support helps provide our conservationists with the tools they need to restore this essential ecosystem, including boats, diving gear, underwater cameras, and lab equipment.

Collaborative Conservation

Collaborating with First Nations is a priority for our restoration work. Last year we partnered with the Tseshaht First Nation to restore Giant Kelp forests within their hahuuÅ‚i, or traditional territory.

Your support will help us expand this collaboration to tackle a major threat the kelp forests: the overabundance of sea urchins.
