Project Description

Green Aliens is a combination of activism in my personal contributions to the film industry, working on various project. This professional development is combined and executed with the creation of an experimental short science fiction comedy series called “Green Aliens: Short”. For the eco-action accelerator I’m creating the pilot titled “Snack Time” where an alien helps a human create a more sustainable lunch. Eventually I plan on creating multiple episodes and later down the road a spin off series. Green Aliens is a combination of activism in my personal contributions to the film industry, combined with the creation of an experimental short series. My time in the eco-action accelerator is a catalyst for a career-long initiative.

This project has been created in commemoration of the lives of all the victims of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, including two Ocean Bridge ambassadors, Danielle Moore and Micah Messent. We aspire to carry on their legacy and commitment to making the world a better place by creating long-lasting impacts with a firm commitment to driving positive change for the environment and our ocean. We will never forget the light that Danielle and Micah brought to the world and will continue to keep them in our hearts. To learn more about these two amazing people, please visit: Honouring Danielle and Micah  – Ocean Wise. This work is partially funded by the Commemoration Fund for Victims of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 Tragedy.

What was your biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge was taking on the extra workload of all the social justice initiatives in addition to all my production tasks. In the future with this project, I’ll be sure to delegate tasks more effectively.

What was your most valuable takeaway?

A lot of the time more sustainable options also saved money. By having crew bring their own Tupperware containers instead of purchasing plastic single use items we reduced waste and had one less thing to buy. Our approach of borrowing props and sourcing equipment from second hand stores also saved money and gave items a second life.
