Ocean Wise Ambassador – 2023 Eco-Action Accelerator Cohort

A bit about me:

Hi there, I’m Sabrina! I have a background in communications and social media marketing, primarily working with nonprofits, small businesses, and in the tech sector.

I grew up in Ontario and was very fortunate to spend a lot of time outdoors, especially during my time as an Estonian Girl Guide. As I grew older, that love of the outdoors grew into a passion for conservation. I was inspired by documentaries, social media accounts, wildlife photographers, podcasts, and friends of mine who are marine biologists. I wanted to get involved in conservation efforts myself, but wasn’t sure how. In 2022, I moved from Ontario to Halifax, NS and was introduced to the Ocean Bridge program. I’m grateful to have participated in Ocean Bridge and Eco-Action Accelerator, and explore how I can use some of the skills I’ve developed and combine them with my passion for ocean conservation. It’s what inspired my project, Saltwater Stories - a blog that dedicated to amplifying climate action efforts in Nova Scotia, and highlight the importance of community, collaboration, education, and storytelling in driving change.

What gets me out of bed in morning?

A cup of coffee and an early morning walk near the waterfront to enjoy the views and sunshine!

A fun fact about me:

I like to snorkel in my free time, and am hoping to get my Open Water Certification and explore underwater photography!
