Ocean Wise Staff – 2022 Eco-Action Accelerator Cohort

My name is Michaela (she/her) and I’m passionate about engaging and empowering others to become involved in protecting and restoring the places where we are fortunate to live, work, and play. I was born and raised in Calgary but have been lucky enough to call the beautiful Coast Salish territory known as Vancouver Island home for the past 6 years.

I joined Ocean Wise as Program Administrator for the Eco-Action Accelerator in 2023 after being an Ocean Bridge Ambassador in 2022.  Prior to this position, I worked at a zero-waste store and am intentional about implementing low-waste practices in my daily life and household.

Ocean Wise est basé sur le territoire traditionnel et non cédé des peuples Salish de la côte, y compris les territoires des nations xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) et Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh). Nous travaillons à travers l'île de la Tortue et au-delà, soutenant les peuples autochtones dans leur travail essentiel de conservation des océans et de la biodiversité chaque fois que cela est possible ou lorsque nous y sommes invités.
