Mara’s Experience with Parks Canada Pacific Rim National Park Reserve

Project Details
The data Mara collected during her placement with Parks Canada supports Pacific Rim's marine monitoring program and actions to support the recovery of Southern Resident Killer Whales in local marine waters.
Project Description
Mara’s placement is part of the Parks Canada Agency (PCA) Southern Resident Killer Whale (SRKW) file within the Science and Conservation Program at Pacific Rim National Park Reserve (PRNPR). Mara had several key responsibilities while working alongside the Marine Ecologist Team Leader. These included participating in low tide beach seine fish surveys in eelgrass meadows and forage fish sand habitats, participating in marine mammal surveys, laboratory analysis of eelgrass samples, and data entry and data management support. The data collected supports PRNPR’s marine monitoring program and actions to support the recovery of SRKW within and adjacent to the marine waters of PRNPR.
