Celebrate International Coastal Cleanup Day

With Ocean Wise

September 18th is International Coastal Cleanup Day

Together we can #BePlasticWise

You are invited to celebrate International Coastal Cleanup day with us by leading a cleanup on your local shoreline during the week of September 18th-25th. We have set a BIG goal of reaching 2,000 cleanups by the end of the year. We know that with your help we can achieve this goal and make a real difference in the fight against plastic pollution.

Every year International Coastal Cleanup Day brings together people and organizations from around the world to stop the leak of litter and plastic pollution into ocean and freshwater ecosystems. This year, the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is celebrating the power of the individual towards collective action. Individually, we can all clean up local shorelines and stop the leak of plastic pollution into our ocean and freshwater ecosystems. Collectively, shoreline cleanups collect valuable citizen science data that is used to inform industry & policy action.

Lead a Cleanup

We are inviting you to lead cleanups in your own community. It’s easy, just choose your favorite local shoreline, register to lead a cleanup, and celebrate your day with us using the hashtags #TeamShoreline or #ShorelineCleanup.

Join a Cleanup

On September 18th Ocean Wise will kick off the week by hosting cleanups across Canada with our Ocean Bridge team and partner organizations.

Help us kick off the week in style by hosting or joining an event. To join an event, simply follow the link for your preferred event location and sign up to join a cleanup. Note that to safely manage capacity limits, registration for each participant is mandatory.

You can also search for cleanups happening in your area on the Shoreline Cleanup Website

Due to possible changes in COVID-19 regulations leading up the events, events may be cancelled to align with provincial and municipal regulations and keep everyone safe. If events are cancelled, all registered participants will receive email notification.

Whether you join one of our events, or lead your own cleanup on you’re local shoreline, we thank you!

Help us celebrate by posting your cleanup photos and stories on social media and tagging us on Twitter @cleanshorelines or Instagram @shorelinecleanup and using #TeamShoreline or #ShorelineCleanup.
